The Provident Bank was recently notified by Visa U.S.A. that certain debit card information may have been compromised at a third party retailer database, Heartland Payment Systems. The reported incident involves unconfirmed unauthorized access of the database that may have included Provident Bank Visa debit card data.  The Provident was not responsible for this and had no direct relationship with Heartland. We are reporting this incident because it may have affected some of our customers.
 
Please be assured that Provident customer’s are protected from any liability for fraudulent transactions by Visa’s zero liability policy. Because ensuring our customer’s security is a top priority we will continue to evaluate this situation as it evolves.
 
You can help protect yourself even further from fraudulent activity by following these steps:
  • Closely monitor your account.  If you are not utilizing The Provident Bank On-Line-Banking system you can enroll for free by clicking here.
  • Review and double-check your monthly bank statements to ensure they match your records. If you see any discrepancies, report them immediately by calling our Customer Contact Center.
  • Review your credit reports for accuracy.  Call any one of the three credit reporting agencies to receive your free annual credit report.
