Advanced Authentication Information


At Provident, we make providing you a safe and secure online banking system our top priority. We routinely assess our online services for opportunities to introduce new security features that help further protect your online banking sessions. To that end, we are announcing important changes to the login process for ProvidentConnect and Mobile Banking, effective June 23, 2013.

Streamlined Login Process
After the security change, you may notice the picture & phrase that previously appeared when you logged in to ProvidentConnect has been removed. In addition, you will no longer be required to formally register your computer; the new system has technology to recognize if your computer has been used before to access the system. We are implementing a more complex and behind-the-scene process to validate your computer, username and password. Similar validation methods will be applied when you access Mobile Banking. 

Enhanced Security Settings
We are also adding additional layers of security in the event you log in from a computer or mobile device that has either not been used in the past, or used in a manner that is not recognizable. For ProvidentConnect, instead of the stored challenge questions you used in the past, you may be asked to validate your identity by entering a one-time security code sent to you via a phone call or SMS text message. In Mobile Banking, you may be asked to answer personally identifiable questions.

Requested Action
The new security feature relies on current phone numbers being stored in ProvidentConnect in order to work properly. To prepare for the upcoming change, we ask that you check your phone numbers in ProvidentConnect by selecting “Manage Contact Information” located in the Administration tab.
