Provident Visa® Debit Card with ProvidentPerksSM Frequently Asked Questions







Q:  What is ProvidentPerksSM?

A:  ProvidentPerksSM is a loyalty rewards program for The Provident Bank’s consumer checking account customers tied to your Provident Visa® Debit Card that lets you earn reward points for your everyday signature purchases.


Q:  Is there a fee to participate in the ProvidentPerksSM program?

A:  No.  Just like your Provident Visa® Debit Card, the program is FREE!



Q:  Do I need a new Provident Visa® Debit Card for this program?

A:  No.  If your current Provident Visa® Debit Card is active, you are automatically enrolled in ProvidentPerksSM.  If your Provident Visa® Debit Card is inactive, then call 1-800-448-PROV to activate your card or request a replacement for a lost or stolen card.


Q:  Is ProvidentPerksSM available for signature purchases made with the Business debit card?

A:  No.  This program is not yet available for business customers.


Q:  How do I earn points?

A:  By signing for your purchases using your Provident Visa® Debit Card  you’ll receive one ProvidentPerksSM reward point for every $2 you spend.  (NOTE:  When using a keypad to conduct your transaction, select “credit,” then sign for your purchases.)


Q:  What is a qualifying purchase?

A:  Any signature purchase made with your Provident Visa® Debit Card is a qualifying purchase.  No points are earned, however, for merchandise returns, fees that we may impose, international transactions, currency conversion charges, ATM withdrawals or insurance charges (to pay for credit life) posted to your account.


Q:  What is a signature card purchase?

A:  A signature card purchase applies to any purchase you make with your Provident Visa® Debit Card where you sign the receipt to make your payment and confirm your acceptance for the card terms.


Q:  Do qualifying purchases have to be for merchandise or can they be for food or services such as a haircut or manicure?

A:  A qualifying purchase is any signature card purchase regardless of the items purchased.


Q:  Will purchases funded by a sweep from a savings account or a draw on a line of credit or overdraft protection (i.e. ODP) qualify?

A:  Yes.  All signature card purchases posted to your account will qualify.



Q:  Is there a limit to the number of points I can earn?

A:  No.  There is no limit to the number of points you can earn.


Q:  How do I keep track of my rewards points?

A:  There are two convenient ways to keep track of your rewards points balance:
  • Track your daily point balance at www.scorecardrewards.com.
  • Call the ProvidentPerksSM customer service line at 1-800-854-0790.


Q:  What rewards can I get with my points?

A:  There is a wide variety of rewards, including brand name merchandise and travel accommodations, including airline tickets, available:

Q:  How do I redeem my points?

A:       •  For merchandise and travel, shop online at www.scorecardrewards.com.
           •  For travel only, call 1-800-842-3006.

Note: All associated bank accounts must be open and in good standing (i.e. not overdrawn, closed, or not available for your use as a payment method) at the time your order is received.


Q:.  Can my points be redeemed for cash?

A:  ProvidentPerksSM allows you to redeem your points for merchandise and travel rewards including airline tickets.  Cash back is not offered at this time.


Q:  What happens to points that have been accumulated but are not enough to be redeemed for merchandise?

A:  Currently, points earned do not expire. Therefore, your points will continue to accumulate until the time you have earned enough points to redeem them.


Q:  Can I pay the difference between the number of points needed to purchase a particular item and the number of points accumulated?

A:  ProvidentPerksSM rewards you for your signature card purchases.  At this time you are not able to pay in cash for the difference in the number of points needed versus points accumulated.


Q:  Are ProvidentPerksSM and ScoreCard® the same thing?

A:  ProvidentPerksSM is The Provident Bank’s loyalty rewards program that is operated by the ScoreCard® system.


Q:  How long are points valid?

A:  You can continue to accumulate ProvidentPerksSM rewards points indefinitely. However, The Provident Bank reserves the right to cancel the program at any time in which case, you will have ample time to redeem your points once you have been notified of the program end date.
The Provident Bank also reserves the right to modify, suspend, cancel or change the redemption value of already accumulated ProvidentPerksSM rewards points at anytime without notice and without restriction or penalty.


Q:  Is there a fee to redeem points?

A:  No.  There are no fees to redeem points for merchandise or travel.  However, there is a fuel surcharge for airline ticket awards that is charged at the time of booking.
